Alan Forbes Benefit Info – Silent Auction and January 4 show info

We have started updating the list for the silent auction that ends January 5th. There is a TON more to add, but we’ve added donations that include a customized Arik Roper / Sleep poster, band signed items from Joe Strummer, the Black Crowes, Chris Cornell, Jethro Tull, and Peter Gabriel, a bunch of artist books donated by Last Gasp, and more! The list can be found here: http://goo.gl/nMjj5v

The online bidding ends January 3, 2014. After the online bidding ends, all items will be taken to the show with the highest online bidders as the starting amounts. Online winners will be contacted on January 7th. To take part of the silent auction, send your bid to: info@secretserpents.com

If you would like to donate something to the silent auction, please email: info@secretserpents.com

January 4 Benefit show:

Bands:
Black Cobra – doom and sludge 2-member sludge-offshoot metal band from San Francisco, California. The band was formed in 2001 by guitarist Jason Landrian, formerly of Florida doom band Cavity, and former Acid King bassist Rafael Martinez.

Lecherous Gaze – Madness! Dementia! Raw Terror! Oozing forth from a festering sore on the recently buried corpse of ultra-sick, Californian sleaze-rock legends ANNHILIATION TIME, comes the ear-mauling, noisy, insanity-soaked musical mayhem of LECHEROUS GAZE! The self-proclaimed “#1 rockin’ band in the entire world,” LECHEROUS GAZE is like the prow of a mighty ship cutting through a sea of turd, carrying on the legacy of bands like the MC5 and Black Flag to bring dangerously heavy rock back to the masses. On The Skids was recorded in Oakland’s Earhammer Studios (Ghoul, Saviours) and is an up-tempo firebomb of awesome riffage, wailing solos, ’70s fuzz tone guitar and grade-A, no-bullshit rock ‘n’ roll!. Who needs studio trickery when each member is jamming out of his mind?!?! Three years in the making, LECHEROUS GAZE’s On The Skids’ maelstromic mixture of heavy rock riffs, punk snarl attitude and Zep-like attention to detail comes across like a hesher’s record collection melted together into one crushing slab of volcanic rock that leaves nothing but burning embers and ringing ears. Harsh and heavy, LECHEROUS GAZE play destructively nasty music for fiendish people!!!

Pins Of Light – San Francisco’s Pins of Light reside in that murky musical shadow-territory of the nearly unclassifiable. They craft a brutal and intricate mélange of metal, punk and prog that isn’t quite any of those things. Pins of Light’s most progressive moments are more Motörhead than Mothers of Invention; their metal is more Pink Floyd than it is Judas Priest; the elements of punk are a driving fistfight that’s entirely the band’s own. Singer and bassist Shane Baker, guitarists Jake Palladino and Ravi Durbeej, and drummer Phil Becker come previously (and currently) from such SF institutions as Dead and Gone, Night After Night, Hightower and Triclops (among a slew of others).

Kicker – Kicker is a Punk band from Oakland. Featuring current and past
members of Neurosis, Filth, and Dystopia, along with veteran road
dog Roadie on vocals. We’re here to drink your beer, eat
your chips and bludgeon your ears with Punk.

In addition to the live music, Big Nate will be DJ’ing and Parker Gibbs will be the emcee!

Saturday, December 7th, 2013 – EARLY SHOW!

The Make-Out Room
3225 22nd St (at Mission)
San Francisco, CA 94110
(415) 647-2888

Doors: 5:00 PM
First band: 6:00 PM
Ends by 10:00 PM

Bands:
The Freeks – Led by Ruben Romano (founding member of Fu Manchu and Nebula) and supported by Hari Hassin on drums (Roadsaw), Tom Davies on bass (Nebula), Esteban Chavez on keys, and Jonathan Hall on guitar (Angry Samoans, Backbiter), the Freeks deliver raw, unrefined, screaming fuzzed psychedelic rock’n’roll music that is dream bent with tension and laced with Full On passion.

Hot Lunch – Ex-Parchaman Farm frontman Eric Shea assembled a band comprising guitarist Aaron Nudelman (Mensclub), drummer Rob Alper (SLA, The Fells) and bass player Charlie Karr (Harold Ray Live In Concert). With vintage refrigerator sized tube amps and Rob’s double-kick setup, these four men were soon channeling their love for Grand Funk Railroad, Hawkwind, Lobby Loyde, Misfits, Crushed Butler, Alice Cooper, Blue Cheer, Rush, early 1980s skate punk, UFO, Ace Frehley, Gedo, Sir Lord Baltimore, and Chuck Berry. But the dudes also shared a lusty hunger for noontime meals served piping hot, which led to one of the most clever, well thought-out and originally conceptualized monikers in the entire history of all music: Hot Lunch.

Harderships – Members of Earthless, Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound, and Zen Guerrilla

Ethan Miller – frontman from various Bay Area bands such as Comets on Fire, Howlin Rain, and Feral Ohms

In addition to the live music, Dead Kennedys founder Jello Biafra will be DJ’ing the event!
